About Tri-Cities, Washington
As occurs in many locales, the Tri-Cities merged into the metropolitan area that’s midsized in the southeastern part of Washington. Richland and Pasco are located in the confluence of the Columbia River and the Yakima Snake River. Often West Richmond, a neighboring city is included as part of the region. There are number of other smaller communities in the area that make up this midsized area. The combined population of this region is approximately 200,000. When adding the additional cities in the region, that number goes up to about 250,000 to 260,000.
This region has its own regional Airport with both commercial and private air service. A number of these companies can offer transportation options as an alternative to the SeaTac airport.
Farming and Agriculture
The climate is semi arid and the region only receives annual rainfall of around 6 inches. However there are three rivers that provide irrigation to the many farms that are well known to produce abundant food not only for Washington but for the region and for exports.
The many colleges in the community including Washington State University, Columbia Basin College, and the University of Phoenix you’ll also find the Tri-Tech skills centers the smaller vocational schools located in Kennewick.
